Secondary School Posting Results

Congratulations, entering a Secondary School of your choice is a great thing. The posting results were out and I am pleased to receive several calls from parents regarding their successful postings.

What’s next?
Here are some suggestions for you, as to how do you get yourself prepared for the first day in your Secondary School.

@You may want to get your textbooks and uniform. Get ready a good dictionary as well.

@Search www.streetdirectory.com for the exact location of your Secondary School and make a trip down to your school, taking the same transport as the one you’ll be taking most of the time when school re-opens in January

For example, if your dad were to drive you to school everyday, arrange a convenient time with your dad to have a trial drive down to your Secondary School and record the estimate distance and time to reach your school.

If you were to take public transport, go to http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/ and http://www.smrt.com.sg/indexn.html and search for the transport services and frequencies. Choose a day and take the public transport to your Secondary School to get the feel of the time needed to get there. Add at least 15 mins for unforseen circumstances such as traffic jam.

@Get back the habit of going to bed early and have good rest. Be mentally prepared for your big day : 3 Jan 2007

Choosing a Secondary School

If you realized, there is a ONE year gap between my first blog posting and my second. The posting on Decision Making (a year ago) still applies to each and every decision to be made in our lives.

Choosing a Secondary School involves an important decision to be made in life. And, if you don't decide, someone else’s will decide for you. Someone else’s could be your parents, siblings, teachers or relatives and friends.

Many students Ask Miss Koh, is choosing a good Secondary School an important decision. In my opinion, it is! It is important because I believe that a good environment can enhance a student's capabilities.

I realized the importance of our learning environment from my uncle's recent visit. My uncle migrated to Perth for more than 10 years and this trip back home he brought his daughter, Nicole Tan - 7 years of age, along. Nicole receives her education in Perth and hence speaks with slang. She surprised me by reading books way ahead of her level. She finishes an old book, 100 Magical Stories of 157 pages in total, in less than two half days. And, her pronunciation is simply superb. Simply test her on any word, including long word, and she will pronounce for you, with perfect pronunciation.

If you were to Ask Miss Koh regarding choosing a Secondary School, in relation to learning and motivation environment, I would say that it is an important decision. It is going to change your life and mould your character. Do choose an environment that suits you and make a decision.

For all my PSLE Students

Since the release of PSLE2006 results, I am very happy for my students. Most of my students were with me since I started teaching Creative Writing, as a trainer of People's Association, at Admiral Garden CC. Five years of guiding effort is all worthwhile seeing them graduated from PSLE with flying colours.

Congratulations to all my students, well done! We have highest 265 in aggregate and most other students above 210. They will be heading to RI, Hwa Chong and some neighbourhood secondary schools in Jan2007.

This website is setup for you, with an objective of continous motivation from Miss Koh, in encouragement of continuous efforts in the coming years.
